Works with most Sony and Canon Cameras with a LanC Jack
Never again will you have to worry about spoiled video (like the "you may kiss the bride" shot) by jarring the camera as you reach for the zoom control. Do it like the pros, from behind or away from the camera. This LanC Controller (pronounced Lan as in Local Area Network followed by a C, because it is effectively a small network within the camera and controller) provides a wide array of sophisticated functions. First, you have full control of Zoom, both in and out, by virtue of the rocker switch that is located on the Lan-C Controller. Next is control over the Focus as well. You can Focus from Near to Far (indicated by the N and F buttons) or leave your camera on Auto-Focus and let the camera do the work. In many situations, however, it is nice to be able to manually control the focus, such "rack focus" like blurring in or out of a particular shot, to create depth of field or to find a focus point that the Auto-Focus feature in your camera refuses to spot on. This is a nightmare using the focus ring or camera control because it invariably results in the jarring of the camera, but not any more!
The LanC controller also provides for Search Forward and Back. This is a very nice convenience for allowing quick playback of footage you've shot to review or to insure that your video AND audio are recording to your satisfaction. Your clients, family and friends will be amazed at the professionalism of this device, as will yourself.
The little knob in the far left hand corner provides for the rate of speed of your Zoom and Focus, while the tiny button to the right allows you to see that rate on your monitor screen, along with other functions. Finally, the Record and Photo buttons, indicated by the circle or the word "photo" allow you to start or stop record or to shoot a still frame using the photo button. You would expect to pay over $100 just for the limited functionality of zoom control alone, and indeed there are many such units (like the Varizoom) that sell for well over $100 and often over $200, but here is a system that provides not only that, but several other functions as well.
Works with most Sony and Canon Cameras. We're told it also will work with some Panasonic and JVC, but cannot develop a camera list. Thus, the unit comes with a 14 Day return period, to insure it works with your camera to your full satisfaction. In addition the LANC-50 also carries a One Year Warranty.
