Fluorescent lighting is replacing halogen and tungsten lights in many video and film applications. In addition to being very energy efficient, utilizing about 1/4 the current for the equivalent lighting power to Tungsten bulbs, they provide a very nice even flicker free lighting pattern virtually eliminating shadows. Moreover they are already color corrected to Outdoor Daylight without the need of filters or having to continually white balance, and they are compatible with the popular HMI lights.

The other reasons that fluorescent lights have become so very popular, both in the studio and on location, is the fact that they are cool (thus the industry slang “cool lights”). This means that after hours of operation they generate hardly any heat, this makes them perfect for extended shoots. Your talent or models will love the fact they are doing far fewer cosmetic touch-ups.

By combining four of our Extended Life 50 Watt DynaFlo Bulbs into one bank selectable fixture we are able to create a single light fixture that produces the equivalent of 900 Watts of incandescent light output. That's because each of these specially designed bulbs puts out 4.5 times the light output of its current draw or slightly over 225 Watts.

This all translates to several important factors when selecting a high performance light kit. First, the low current draw saves on electricity and air conditioning and also means that you're not running a bunch of cumbersome and dangerous extension cords.
