:: DETAILS A new generation of quality recording and editing The VC-50HD can convert from HD-SDI to not only HDV format (19/25Mbps) but also 8/35/50Mbps MPEG-2 TS. The unit also supports conversion from SD-SDI to DV format (25Mbps) and 2/9/12Mbps MPEG-2 TS.
*Up/Down conversion, I/P conversion, NTSC/PAL conversion, Frame conversion are not supported.
HDMI Output allows flexible and convenient monitoring The dedicated HDMI Output port provides display and monitoring of both the video and audio* signal. The output can also be used to directly connect to a large display or video projector.
*Audio signal is only available when the source is HD/SD-SDI.
Setup and Control via PC and/or dipswitches The VC-50HD can be controlled using dedicated PC utility software via USB.
This allows setting up direction, codec type, SDI audio channels, etc.
Presets can be saved to enable quick and convenient selection via dipswitch settings.
*Dedicated utility software can be downloaded soon.
Three different types of power The VC-50HD supports three dierent types of power supply: AC power adaptor, AA batteries, and external battery support. The built-in 8AA battery tray can supply seamless failover power should the AC power become disconnected or while changing over external battery packs. Additionally the VC-50HD has V-Mount and Gold Mount options for use with popular external batteries systems.
Capture directly to HDD/SDD using the EDIROL F-1 Video Field Recorder Combining the VC-50HD with the EDIROL F-1 Video Field Recorder (Version 2.0) enables direct recording at any supported bitrate (up to 50Mbps) to hard-drive or solid state memory. MPEG-2TS 50Mbps enables higher quality video capture than HDV. Alternatively MPEG-2 TS 8Mbps enables around 27 hours of HD video recording when used with the 120GB HDD.
HD-SDI and HDV Bi-directional Video Copy Bi-directionally convert between high quality, uncompressed HD-SDI and affordable HD format HDV devices. This is an efficient and flexible system for transfer, production and transcoding applications.
Capture directly and edit using your non-linear editing system Most non-linear video editing systems support HDV as well as 35/50Mbps MPEG-2 TS les. Enable higher level quality video production with low overhead.
Easy capture or archiving to Blu-ray Blu-ray/ DVD recorders equipped with IEEE1394 (i.LINK) can record high quality video directly from HD/SD-SDI sources via the VC-50HD. This is ideal for high quality video backup and archiving.

Back To Top :: FAQ How long can I use the device with dry cells or external battery? · Dry cells (AA × 8)
Nickel-hydrogen: Approximately 2 hours
Alkaline: Approximately 30 minutes
· External batteries
IDX Endura E-10 (93Wh): Approximately 10 hours
IDX Endura ELITE (138Wh): Approximately 15 hours
Anton bauer DIONIC 90 (90Wh): Approximately 10 hours
Anton bauer HYTRON 140 (140Wh): Approximately 15 hours
Does the device support the 4ch mode of HDV or DV?
The device only supports two channels for conversion from SDI to HDV/DV.
When converting from HDV/DV to SDI, one or two channels out of four are used.
For conversion to DV, the sampling frequency is converted to 48kHz.
What can I control from F-1?
You can select presents or SDI audio channels from F-1.
When playing back fro F-1, the conversion direction is automatically switched.
Is there a delay between outputs from the HD/SD-SDI OUT/THRU terminal and HDMI OUT terminal?
No.
Can I use the external power supply master switch to power on and off the device?
By setting the DIP switch #6 to ON, the POWER switch of the device is bypassed and the device can be powered on and off without using it.
What types of external batteries can I use?
· Dry cells (AA × 8)
Nickel-hydrogen: Approximately 2 hours
Alkaline: Approximately 30 minutes
· External batteries
IDX Endura E-10 (93Wh): Approximately 10 hours
IDX Endura ELITE (138Wh): Approximately 15 hours
Anton bauer DIONIC 90 (90Wh): Approximately 10 hours
Anton bauer HYTRON 140 (140Wh): Approximately 15 hours
What types of external batteries can I use?
· Dry cells (AA × 8)
Nickel-hydrogen: Approximately 2 hours
Alkaline: Approximately 30 minutes
· External batteries
IDX Endura E-10 (93Wh): Approximately 10 hours
IDX Endura ELITE (138Wh): Approximately 15 hours

Which of the external battery and dry cells are consumed first?
External battery.
When replacing the external battery, the dry cells are used for backup.
When the external battery has been replaced, the power supply automatically switches to it.
How can I check that the input signal is locked?
You can check if the input signal is locked with the indicator colors.
HD-SDI (1080i) Green
HD-SDI (720p) Orange
SD-SDI Red
HDV/MPEG-2 TS Green
DV Red
Can I connect the device with Roland DV-7 series or PR series via i.Link?
DV "capture" and "write/playback" are supported as follows:
Capture Write/playback
DV-7R O O
DV-7DL series O O
DV-7PR O X
PR-50 O O
PR-80 O O
PR-1000 O X
When the DIP switch #6 is ON (remote control enabled), what happens with other DIP switch settings?
When the DIP switch #6 is ON to enable remote control, the settings of other DIP switches are read once when the device starts up and the device is configured accordingly. DIP switch operation will be disabled thereafter.
Is 24p supported?
No (for both of input and output).
Can I use the device in continuous conversion for a long time?
Yes. There is no limitation on continuous conversion length.
I can find "CONTROL" in the block diagram. What is it?
VC-50HD support HD-SDI Remote of SONY and Recording Mark of Panasonic, and can convert and output the Rec Start/Stop information of the HD-SDI signal to the AV/C command of IEEE1394.
When used with F-1, VC-50HD can capture video by connecting to the Rec Start/Stop terminal of the above cameras via a single HD-SDI cable.
Can I up-convert a signal input via SD-SDI and output it via i.Link as an HDV signal?
VC-50HD cannot up/down/cross-convert input video signals for output.
Does VC-50HD have audio delay function?
VC-50HD does not have the audio delay function, similar to that of VC-300HD/200HD, which allows for arbitrary setting. However, audio and video are not misaligned before and after conversion.
Can I output a signal, input via 1080i, via 1080p?
VC-50HD does not support 1080p for both of input and output.
Can I input separate signals to SDI and i.Link and convert and output them simultaneously?
No. VC-50HD can only convert a single input at a time.
